Brian Jacobs
Brian Jacobs is a Founder and General Partner of Emergence Capital Partners. Emergence is a leading venture capital firm focused on early and growth-stage Technology-Enabled Services investing.
With over 18 years of venture capital experience, Brian has a deep national network and broad experience helping both consumer and business-oriented startups achieve their business goals. Prior to founding Emergence, Brian was an early General Partner at St. Paul Venture Capital. During his 10 years with St. Paul, Brian helped to grow the firm to one of the 15 largest venture investors in the country. He led the firm's Silicon Valley investing activities. His prior venture capital experience was at Security Pacific Venture Capital. Brian also worked for the Raychem Corporation, where he developed and marketed advanced software and electronic components. He also has engineering and new product development experience with RCA, Westinghouse, and Polaroid, and he holds several patents.
Brian was named to the Forbes' Midas List of the top venture capital investors in 2006 and 2007. He is an experienced board member who has served on dozens of public and private boards. He currently serves on the boards of Visage Mobile, Krugle, Intacct, InsideView, DVDPlay and Bill.com.
Brian's reputation for helping entrepreneurs build innovative technology-enabled service companies comes from his active involvement in Lexar Media (LEXR), WebTV (sold to Microsoft), HireRight, nQuire Software (sold to Siebel Systems), Microchip Technologies (MCHP), BigFix, NetPerceptions (NETP), NextCard (NXCD) and many others.
Brian has a MS and BS in mechanical engineering from M.I.T. and an MBA from Stanford. He is happily married with two children. He enjoys international travel and scuba diving.
Jerry Casilli
Jerry Casilli is a General Partner at Rembrandt Venture Partners. Rembrandt invests in a variety of sectors including Internet infrastructure, application software delivered as a service, communications, next generation wireless sectors and new media convergence.
Prior to founding Rembrandt in 2004, Jerry served as Chairman of the board of directors of IKOS Systems, Inc. and served as its CEO from 1989 to 1995 taking the company public in 1991. Jerry was a founding member and General Partner of Trinity Ventures; a highly successful venture capital firm focused on investments in early stage high technology companies. Before founding Trinity, Jerry was a founder and General Partner of Genesis Capital.
Jerry also founded Millennium Systems, a manufacturer of microprocessor development systems, and served as its President and CEO. He guided the company to a successful acquisition by American Micro Systems. Jerry is also a founding member of the Band of Angels, an organization that actively invests in early stage companies. The Band constitutes over 160 members comprised of Silicon Valley-based technology executives. Jerry is currently a member of the World Presidents Organization (WPO) and a former member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Jerry has served on the boards of directors of over 20 companies, both public and private, including NASDAQ companies Evans & Sutherland, Cepheid Systems, Ikos Systems, Identix Corporation and Keynote Systems. Currently, Jerry sits on the boards of InsideView and Xactly.
Jerry holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.
Umberto Milletti
Umberto Milletti is the Chief Executive Officer at InsideView. InsideView is a pioneer in on-demand business search and intelligence applications.
Before founding InsideView, Umberto was an executive and co-founder of DigitalThink, a leading provider of Web-based corporate training services. Beginning in 1996, Umberto held a number of key roles at DigitalThink, serving as GM, Products; VP, Technology; and VP, Marketing & Product Management. Umberto helped lead DigitalThink to a successful IPO, growing annual revenues to $60 million, and ultimately to its sale to Convergys in 2004 for $120 million in cash.
Previously, Umberto led product development at Knowledge Revolution, a developer of educational and engineering software acquired by MSC Software. He also held various management positions at Integrated Systems Inc. (acquired by Wind River Systems), helping grow the company to an IPO in 1990.
Umberto holds a B.S., summa cum laude, in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California-Berkeley.
